Sand separation systems are one of the first units in wastewater treatment plants and are quite important for the rest of the wastewater treatment process. They are widely used in facilities where visible but small-scale particles that are suspended or have a tendency to settle, such as sand, are concentrated. Although their main purpose is to separate sand and other particulate matter from wastewater, they also serve as a structure that protects downstream units from clogging and corrosion.
